School Assembly

The grade 1s hosted an assembly on Wednesday. We introduced the school to Zones of Regulation which talks about how we can self-regulate by identifying the zone we are in. Also, we led all the students in the singing of our school song. Thanks to Ms Wasney for videotaping some of the assembly so we can share it with you.

Day of Pink

At our assembly today we celebrated Day of Pink. It looked like a sea of pink in our gym. We need to remember to be respectful and kind every day, not just on Day of Pink.

Here are our thoughts:
When I play football I need to pass the ball to my teammate. You don't have hands on. -Cody
I wore pink today. I am nice to people every day. -Callum
Don't bully people ever. -Naomi
I wore a red shirt today because I don't have a pink one. We need to be nice to people. -Landyn
I like having Day of Pink because it is important that you be kind to other people. -Russell A.
Today is Pink Day at school. We had an assembly. We talked about not being a bully. -Bapreet
Today is Day of Pink. Everyone was supposed to wear pink. We need to be nice and kind to each other, take care of others and think about others. -Zachary
Today is Day of Pink and lots of people are wearing pink. We talk to people nicely each day. -Eliza
I learned to take care of people all the time not just today. -Levi
On Pink Day everybody is nice to each other. You have to be nice everyday too. -Brady
I am wearing a pink shirt today. -Russell L.
On Pink Day everybody wears pink because there was a boy in school that wore pink on his first day and people bugged him. These two guys made a difference by telling everyone to wear pink. -Anna
I am wearing my new pink shirt today. -Jay Dee
I love the pink shirts. -Ethan
Today is Day of Pink. Everybody is supposed to wear pink to remind us to be a good friend. -Cady
Today we are supposed to wear pink because Day of Pink is supposed to remind us to be good to people. That will make people happy. -Sierra
Today is Day of Pink. I couldn't wear a pink shirt because I don't have a pink shirt so I got a pink paper bracelet to wear at school. -Jake
I love the Day of Pink because everybody is wearing pink. It looks amazing. -Gavin

I heard Travis Price on CTV this morning as he is in Winnipeg doing some public speaking for Manitoba Red Cross. The Day of Pink started in Nova Scotia and has now gone international. It is true, it only takes one to make a difference. Let's continue to build positive relationships each and every day.

Grade One Assembly

Today the Grade 1s performed at our Fall Assembly. The students sang Turkey in the Straw. . .  also referred to as "Gobble, Gobble". Then we did a Halloween song that demonstrated how we can follow directions and show off our dance moves. We did the song first by ourselves to teach it to the rest of the school and then all the students and adults joined in!

Here are our thoughts:
I was nervous and my favourite part was doing the Halloween song. I liked pretending to be a super hero. -Callum
I was nervous, but mostly excited. -Jake

Smile!

During our assembly today Mrs. Palamar reminded us about the video she shared on the first day of school. It spoke about how it only takes one person to make a difference and how we can be kind to each other in many ways. Students in Room 2 are working hard at showing kindness to others.

We shared lots of smiles today with a special cookie treat. The proceeds from the sale of the Smile Cookies go to the Children's Hospital. We are lucky to be healthy and active and we hope all children have the opportunity to play and have fun like we get to do every day. Thanks to Ms Wasney for getting the cookies for us.
What can you do to show kindness each day? Even a smile can make a difference.
