Word of the Year

We talked about the power of words and how they can have special meaning to us. After sharing important words, we selected only one word that would make us happy and give us good thoughts. It's not easy to pick just one word, but this would be our Word of the Year. We hope that if you ask us in a month, we will remember our word.

Mom . . . I love my mom because she takes care of me. -Blake

Word of the Year

We started talking about a word that makes us feel good. A word that when we hear it makes us have good thoughts. These words are our Words of the Year.
Quiet. . . It's a special word because if you want quiet time then you can go somewhere quiet and be calm and patient. -Zachary
Friends. . . I like playing with my friends. Cody
Family. . .  Family is important to me because if I didn't have a family I would be super lonely. -Anna
Hope. . . I hope I never leave my mom and dad. -Eliza
Helping. . .  If somebody gets hurt you should help them. -Jake

Word of the Year

Happy New Year everyone! 2015 has gotten off to a chilly start. We stayed indoors all day today because it was too cold to be outside. It was awesome to see all the familiar faces this morning and to meet our new student, Isla. We are very happy to have her join our learning community. The class had a chance to talk about the holidays and the end of 2014 as well as the start of a new year and all the exciting adventures that lie ahead. I recently saw a neat idea about a "Word of the Year"....a word that we can think about the whole year that has meaning to us. I have never been very good at making (or keeping) resolutions so I shared this idea with the class. We had time to discuss and share some ideas.
