CTV Visits Room 2

Our letter to Mayor Hart which was published in the local newsletter caught the attention of CTV news. Katherine Dow came out to visit us yesterday to talk about our experience during our walk for Earth Day clean up. We were able to watch ourselves on TV last night. Thanks for coming to our classroom, Katherine!

Geocaching

Our Wednesday walk took us out to find our first geocache. Some students in our class have been geocaching before so they were able to tell us about their experiences. It was pretty exciting

 Here are our thoughts:
We found a treasure on a tree. -Stacey
I had fun climbing some branches to look for the geocache.-Chase
People look for stuff. It is pretty cool. -Arianna
We walked to Sobeys. -Dominic
We went for a walk and we found a little note that says who found the geocache. -Bianca
I was the one who found the geocache. I had a picture inside of my head because I have a computer in my brain. -Lily
I like going geocaching with my dad. I found one that had no pencil so I told Mrs. Tresoor to bring a pencil. -Blake
I went geocaching before and I found a whole bunch on Mother's Day on my bike. Some didn't have pencils. -Brody
We found the geocache in a tree. Ben
We walked in the sticks. They broke and cracked. There wasn't a geocache in the branches. -Ava
We went to geocache and we found a container. -Charlotte
The geocache didn't have any toys in it and that's why we just wrote our name on the paper inside. -Jack
I like going geocaching because we went back to that same place after school with my auntie.I have never gone geocaching before -Theo
We found the geocache. It was in the split of a tree. Inside there was a bag and a piece of paper in the bag because we wrote our name. Good thing we had a pen because it did not come with a pen.-Brooke
We looked in the branches on the ground, but it wasn't it there. It was in a tree. -Tyson
We found a geocache yesterday on our walk. -Andrew
I liked geocaching because we found cool stuff. -Adria

The kids have been asking if we will go geocaching again. You never know what our next walking adventure may bring.

A November to Remember

The week has been filled with the antics of the Dinos, enjoying the beautiful weather, discussions about Remembrance Day and so much more. Students have a long weekend because there is no school on November 11 and no school for students on Monday, November 14.

Here are our thoughts:
I liked the park because there was a pretend truck. -Jack
I was a wreath bearer at the Remembrance Day assembly. -Ava
I liked the slider at the park. -Chase
I enjoy having the dinosaurs in Room 2. -Adria
I liked the swinging monkey bars at the park. -Lily
The dinosaurs miss home because they want to see their family and friends. -Andrew

I liked the rings at the purple park. -Bianca

I liked going to the park. I liked playing outside. -Theo
I thought the thing that slides was fun. -Arianna
I liked going to the purple park because it is my favourite colour.
Today the dinosaurs were really funny. They started their own colour club. I think they miss home and their friends. It would be really nice if they would just relax and like to stay. -Brooke
I liked going to the purple park. -Blake
The dinosaurs were colouring at my table today. -Desi
We sang O'Canada at the assembly. We saw pictures of gravestones, soldiers and poppies. -Tyson

Our Wednesday Walk took us to a park in the community. Many of the kids know it as Purple Park which makes sense since there is a giant purple slide. The November weather has been delightful. I'm not sure how long it will last, but I know we are loving it. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I got my snow tires on extra early this year! Hard to believe that there was a blizzard 30 years ago that shut down the city.

The students did a very good job of being respectful at the assembly today. It was different to not clap for the wonderful performances. Thanks to the help and support from everyone at school for putting together such a lovely program. Take time to remember.

We are forever grateful for the bravery shown by the young people from this area who fought for our freedom. Because of the sacrifices of so many, we are able to live safely in a beautiful country. We are fortunate to be able to play freely, which is what we did in Memorial Park after our ceremony. Lest We Forget.

Enjoying the Outdoors

We got quite a bit of rain.
Despite the wetter weather, we were prepared to walk on Wednesday. We listened for sounds and noticed that the wet roads allowed us to hear some tires splashing through the puddles. We noticed the trees that lose their leaves and the "Christmas" trees that stay green. Some trees were still hanging on to a few leaves.

We were tempted to jump in this pile of leaves.
Here are our thoughts:
It was fun jumping in the leaves. -Tyson
I threw the leaves up. -Ava
I like going on the walk. I heard cars. -Bianca

So much to see around us.

Beautiful colours.

Puddle footwear.

It is so great that the kids are eager to get outside even when the weather conditions are less than ideal. Thanks to Room 2 Families for making sure we are dressed for our walks. The smiles in these photos really say it all.

Exploration

Room 2 is a creative bunch. We are enjoying exploring different art media and techniques using pastels and paints. Our Walking Wednesdays are a great way to get outside, explore our surroundings and appreciate nature. Here are some pictures to share.
Drawing pumpkins during exploration time.
