Yummy Hot Lunch!

Hot lunch is always a highlight at school. It also means parents do not have to make lunch for a day. We were very excited to hear the 12:15 bell. We have been busy doing animal research with Mrs. Dent Scarcello for IBL (Inquiry Based Learning). Ask your child which animal they are learning about and some facts they have found out. Measurement continues to be a focus as we are comparing things in our classroom. We reviewed our facts to 10 with a card game called Pyramid. Maybe you can play it at home.

Here are our thoughts:

With the sunshine and warmer winds we are happy to be outside. The week was filled with snow, blowing winds and sunshine. Hopefully spring weather will be here to stay. Thanks to all our volunteers for helping with our hot lunch days. It takes a lot of organization and effort to coordinate a day like this. We appreciate it.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!

What a Week!

It has been a busy week. Monday started with an assembly featuring a performance by Fubuki Daiko. They are a Japanese Taiko drumming group. Hiroshi and Naomi held workshops for students with a final performance on Thursday. The grade 1s were able to experience the drumming as well which was such a treat.

With Earth Day on Saturday, April 22nd, we have been talking a lot about how we can all do our part to help our planet. We were encouraged to bring a litterless lunch on Tuesday. Our Walking Wednesdays started up again and we picked up garbage in the area along our route. We wore green and blue to school on Thursday as we continued to think about our Earth. The lights were frequently off in our classroom to help save energy. Our big window provided lots of lighting as we worked throughout the day.

We ended our week with a gallery walk through the school to see the excellent writing that was on display outside all of the classrooms. The kids were excited to see their own work and the work of friends and siblings.

Have a wonderful weekend. Remember it's Earth Day on Saturday, but we have been saying that Earth Day is every day. How are you going to make a difference?

Decorah Eagles!

We peeked in on the Decorah Eagles this morning. They are fascinating! Ms Wasney let us know that the eggs hatched and the nest is full of three baby eaglets. We are keeping an eye on them. Enjoy watching the eaglets grow and develop.
