Earth Week

The Environmental Club planned some events for Earth Week April 22nd-25th. We have been reading about how important it is for each of us to do our part to help planet earth. Thanks for participating in the activities this week.

Here are our thoughts:
I can have no power to help the earth. No TV for the rest of the week -Colton
I can keep the world clean by picking up dirty garbage. -Autumn
I can help the earth by picking up garbage on the grass. -Nathan
I clean up everything. -Carter M.
I can help the earth by shutting the lights off at night. -Braydon
I can help the earth by not using so much power. I take a break from video games. -Carter D.
I can shut the lights off when it's morning to help the earth. -Bryce
I can ride my bike to school instead of coming by car. -Ryder
I can pick up garbage on the ground. -Liam B.
I can bring a litterless lunch so I'm not wasting stuff. -Gabriella
I can pick up garbage off the ground to make the earth better. -Jarrett
I can help the earth by planting a tree. -Silas
I can help the earth by turning off the TV when I'm done with it and turning off the lights when I'm done in that room. -Madison
I will pick up garbage on the ground outside. -Will
I can watch less TV and play with my toys instead. -Charlie
I can help the earth by not wasting water. -Jaxson
I will help the earth by not turning up the heat so much. I can get some blankets and sit on the couch. -Michael
I can colour on both sides of the paper so I don't waste paper. -Kennedy
If there is no garbage can I can keep the garbage with me until I find a garbage can. Then I am not putting it on the ground. -Emily

We hope you will think about the earth every day!

Hoppy Easter

It has a been a busy week. The whole school had a fire drill and bus evacuation on a sunny morning. It is great to practice our safety procedures during the year. We were able to enjoy pizza lunch on Thursday. A huge thank you to the parent volunteers who organize the orders and the parents who deliver our lunches to the classrooms.

As we practice school wide expectations, we continue to collect Buddy Bones that have been posted in our hallways. Our goal was reached and we all got freezies to celebrate. Keep up the good work everyone!

It will be an exciting weekend with the Eater bunny stopping by. We hope you enjoy the spring weather and the time you are able to spend with family and friends.

Ways to Show Kindness

Big Daddy Tazz came to our school on Monday to speak to us about about kindness. He shared stories of his time in school when he was growing up. He reminded us to be bold and to be brave and most importantly to always be kind. We followed up the presentation with family groups on Wednesday. Once we were in our groups we watched a video and wrote about ways we can show kindness. These ideas were put up on the bulletin board outside the gym. They look awesome!

Here are our thoughts:
I can show kindness by  . . .
helping people build with blocks. - Nathan
playing with my friends because I love them. -Colton
helping someone up when they fall. -Michael
sharing Lego. -Will
smiling at people. -Kennedy
saying thank you when your mom and dad cook you supper. -Gabriella
being nice and not hitting people. -Carter M.
playing Transformers with my friends. -Bryce
playing Mario Party 9 with my little brother. -Jaxson
playing tag with my sister. -Madison
helping someone find something they have lost. -Carter D.
picking up someone's water bottle if it falls off of the table then I can give it to my friend. -Liam B.
asking someone to play with us if someone is sad. -Ryder
helping someone to the office if they fall down on ice. -Autumn
standing up for each other. -Braydon
playing with someone at recess. -Silas
helping someone pick up something that they dropped. -Emily
helping someone when they fall. I would help them up. -Jarrett
asking someone who is all alone to play with me. -Charlie

Thanks for showing kindness each day. As our bulletin board says, "Throw kindness around like confetti! Have a great weekend. Be kind to one another.
-Mrs. T. & Ms. M.

Thanks Ms. LoVetri for sharing this video with us. Remember even the smallest act of kindness can make someone's day.

Welcome Back!

The canteen is open in April
We were glad to hear that spring break was enjoyed by all. It's always nice to be in the spring-like conditions outside without the heavy snow gear we wear all winter. We are transitioning back into our school routines and we have done lots of review of our school expectations. At our assembly today Mr. Osiowy introduced the prize wheel. Draws will be made for each grade level and students will be called down to the office to spin the wheel! Charlie was the first from Room 2 to get to spin the wheel. He will get free gym time with a friend. Here are some pictures of our week.

Makerspace friends are working on an art project with Mrs. Dent Scarcello. Stay tuned to see their collaborative creations.

We are working on some measurement activities. Today we went on a hunt for things to complete this sentence:
My shoe is longer than . . .

There was some snow today and the wind was very strong! We are all hoping for warming conditions. Come on spring weather. . . we're waiting for you. Thanks for sending in extra clothing as our playground is wet and slippery!
