Our Community Project

Mrs. Dent Scarcello has been working with us to plan and design our 3D community project. Wednesday was our day to build! There was lots of decision making as the kids had to use recyclable materials and create their structure. After that it was time to paint. Some things didn't stick together well, some things didn't paint well, but we persevered. It was great to see what everyone came up with.

Here are our thoughts:
I loved painting. I made the Birds Hill beach. -Colton
I built Bird's Hill School. It has a flag. -Carter M.
I built the bank. I used cardboard, wood and tape. -Liam B.
I built Jonesy's out of a shoe box lid, yogurt container, and a long piece of wood that looked like a long toothpick. I am painting it light brown. -Silas
I built the dog kennel. I used cardboard and a box. I'm painting it brown. -Ryder

I built the eye doctor place. I painted and I used tape. -Bryce
I made Sobeys with Carter D. We made Sobeys with cardboard and we were going to make a parking lot, but it was too big for the map. -Jaxson
We built Sobeys. We made a green roof. -Carter D.
I built my house. I taped a lot of boxes. -Braydon
I built the Pitts. It was fun because I got to tape things. In the winter you go sliding there. In the summer you walk your dog. -Jarrett
I built Birds Hill beach. I used the straws to make the monkey bars. -Gabriella
I built the East St. Paul Arena. I had to paint and build it out of boxes. -Michael
I made my house. I painted my door red and my roof. -Nathan
We were building structures. I made Subway. It was very fun because I got to build it and I got to paint it. -Madison
I painted my building white, green and grey because it is Subway. -Autumn
I did Bird's Hill School. It was hard painting the flag. -Kennedy
I built a house, my house. It's brown. -Will
I made Pine Ridge Hollow. I used brown paper to cover it. -Emily

Thanks to our families for sending in the materials we could use for our project. Thanks to Mrs. Geschiere and Mrs. Dent for coming in to help us. Thanks to Mrs. Dent Scarcello for her vision and all the planning and preparation she did. We can't wait to show you how it all looks during student led conferences!

Check out our video of the finished project!

-Mrs. T. & Ms. M.
